Do Trails Bring Economic Impact to Communities?

Submitted by Nancy Daniels

On Friday, November 1, during our first Friday e-Call, we’ll learn about a year-long effort to study the economic impact of Kansas Trails. Mike Scanlon, Principal at Our City Planning LLC, and Elizabeth Burger, Sunflower Foundation Senior VP of programs and strategy, will reveal the results on our 9:30 am Zoom call. Burger was the impetus and funder for K-State Research and Extension’s Trail Talk Tuesdays, a series of six calls recorded along with a curated list of other resources on KSRE’s Public Trails page. https://www.ksre.k-state.edu/program-areas/supporting-communities/public-trails/. Scanlon was a frequent presenter on the Trail Talk calls. As the City Manager of Osawatomie, Scanlon often spoke to the benefits public trails contributed to the quality of community life.

The purpose of the First Friday Entrepreneurship Call (e-Call) is to inform businesses about the experts, education, and economic resources available to help them and the communities who love them.

The First Friday e-Call is open to the public but requires a one-time registration. All calls are recorded and reside on our First Friday archive.
