Professional Courtesy Makes a Positive Difference
In the vibrant tapestry of collaboration at K-State Research and Extension, professional courtesy is an important thread that strengthens our teamwork and nurtures positive relationships.
This courtesy reflects the respect, consideration and open communication among extension agents, specialists, board and PDC members, and everyone involved in our extension programs.
When we deliver educational programs or have impactful conversations across county lines, showing professional courtesy is key to maintaining strong connections and ensuring we meet community needs effectively.
It’s always a compliment when an agent or specialist is invited to share their expertise in another county or region. However, it’s super important to keep local staff in the loop well ahead of time.
This kind of communication helps everyone prepare for questions from attendees, allows local colleagues to share their insights, and prevents any mix-ups with resources or programming. After all, local staff often has unique knowledge about their communities that can make our programs even more impactful.
Imagine how you might feel if someone conducted a program in your county without giving you a heads-up. That could lead to feeling left out or confused, which isn't ideal for our relationships or shared goals. By maintaining open lines of communication about our programs, we create a supportive environment where teamwork thrives, and everyone feels valued and included.
Let’s continue working together, both within and across our local units. Keep up the fantastic work, and let’s lift each other up as we strive to improve the lives of Kansans.
