State Market Beef Nomination Deadline May 1
The state market beef nomination deadline for market steers and market heifers families would like to exhibit in the Kansas State Fair Grand Drive and/or KJLS is May 1. This includes submitting the animal (tag ID, breed, etc.) online through ShoWorks, for each eligible child in the family and postmarking a completed and signed DNA envelope back to the youth livestock program. The May 1 deadline is final.
Everyone state nominating animals is encouraged to use the checklist posted on the website, as well as the other resources provided.
Extension Agents need to approve the animals nominated by 4-H members in their unit. Those in districts will need to login to each county individually to approve all of their exhibitors. It is encouraged for agents to login and complete the approval step at their earliest convenience, or periodically as animals are nominated. All market beef nominations need to be approved by midnight on May 1.
Specific instructions and passwords were distributed via email to the KSRE listserv on April 16. Extension Agents need to navigate to the Kansas nomination page and login, as a club, the check the box next to each nomination to approve it. Make sure to click the "save" button at the bottom of the page.
If a family you are expecting to nominate does not show up on the approval list under your club/county, it means they have not submitted their animals through the online system.
