Board and PDC Training Modules Available

Submitted by Jennifer R Wilson

Serving as an Extension Board member is a meaningful responsibility—and we know it can feel overwhelming at first. That’s why we’ve created the New Board Member Orientation module. This resource is designed to help new members understand their role and gain insight into the organization’s mission and operations.

We encourage both new and continuing board members to review the module before officially taking office and attending their first meeting. They can complete the module on their own or work through it with guidance from the local unit director, other agents, or current board members. Additionally, board members should become familiar with local unit operations, budgets, staffing plans, and agent action plans to ensure they are fully prepared.

Program Development Committee (PDC) members also play a vital role by helping K-State Research and Extension address community needs. To support them, the Program Development Committee Orientation module offers a clear overview of responsibilities, a short video, and guidelines for PDC expansion. It’s a great starting point for understanding how to make an impact.

Both modules can be found on the Board Leadership Module website.
