Join us for the eighth cohort of the Community Partnerships, Places, and Actions for Health initiative (formerly Grand Challenge for Health) beginning with the 5-week online Systems Approaches for Healthy Communities (SAHC) course. This University of Minnesota online course includes five asynchronous (at your own pace) learning modules that equip agents and their partners to work on improving places and systems for health. The course content is supported with three real-time coaching sessions. Coaching, which is led by Elaine Johannes and Stephanie Gutierrez are opportunities for agents and partners to reflect and share ideas to apply the strategies learned through the SAHC course. The course concludes with information about the implementation funding opportunity of $5,000 for 1 year which is aligned with the Kansas Health Foundation’s innovation award process.

The 2026 SAHC course runs January 27 to March 3:

  • Module 1: January 27-February 3 – Frameworks for Healthy Communities
  • Module 2: February 3-10 – Taking a Systems Approach; coaching session
  • Module 3: February 10-17 – Engaging with Communities
  • Module 4: February 17-24 – Knowing your Community coaching session and data review
  • Module 5: February 24-March 3 – Putting it All Together; coaching session and next steps

Join us! Discuss your participation with your Extension unit leadership. Reserve your spot in the SAHC course by sending an email to Stephanie Gutierrez (smgutier@ksu.edu) by January 17, 2026.

Questions or concerns may be directed to Elaine Johannes (ejohanne@ksu.edu) or Stephanie Gutierrez (smgutier@ksu.edu). Thank you for the thoughtful, health-promoting work across Kansas communities. We look forward to learning together!
