Elevate your communication skills at Science That Speaks
This January, Kansas State University will present Science That Speaks, a two-day professional development workshop designed to help the university community strengthen their ability to share research in ways that build trust and engage diverse audiences.
It will take place January 14-15, 2026, in Hale Library’s Hemisphere Room (581). Participants will explore strategies for making science accessible, relevant, and impactful through keynote presentations, panel discussions, and an interactive workshop focused on addressing science communications challenges through a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach.
The workshop content will focus on how science communicators can build trust and create public engagement, something that organizers say is essential for K-State’s work as a next-gen land grant institution.
“Discovery takes root in our labs and fields, but its real value is harvested only when we share it with the people it’s meant to serve,” said Jacqueline Aenlle, assistant professor of agricultural and natural resources communications.
Science that Speaks is sponsored by the Kansas Water Institute, the Kansas Science Communication Initiative, and the Department of Communications and Agricultural Education. This is a free seminar and workshop open to students, staff, and faculty interested in making science more accessible and engaging. Space is limited, and participants should register online by January 8.
A full workshop agenda and speaker bios are on the Science that Speaks webpage.
