Refreshing Attitude of Gratitude
Some of the regional directors recently met with extension specialists from western Kansas in what served as a powerful reminder of the impact extension professionals make every day.
As we wrapped up our conversation that morning, specialists spontaneously began applauding the dedication, skill and heart demonstrated by agents working in local units — and the recognition is well deserved.
Across programs and communities, local extension agents are on the front lines, translating research into action and building trusted relationships that strengthen communities and families. The work is often complex, lengthy and multifaceted.
Hearing regional specialists openly acknowledge this excellence reinforces what many already know: much of extension's success begins with the commitment and professionalism of agents in the field.
The applause that morning was more than a gesture — it was a sincere expression of gratitude and respect. It reflected appreciation for long hours, creative problem-solving, and an unwavering focus on meeting community needs. It also highlighted the strong partnership between regional and local teams, united by our shared mission and purpose.
We are thankful for all extension professionals who continue to do wonderful work, often without fanfare, and with much good humor. The praise was a meaningful reminder that your efforts matter, your voices are valued, and your work is making a lasting difference!
