Diversity Programs Office Update

Submitted by Zelia Wiley and Zuleica Gerardo

The DPO would like to share some information about upcoming events:

• As we close our Black History Month observance, the K-State MANRRS Chapter would like to thank the K-State community for supporting our event. The chapter hosted “Trailblazers of Kansas State University: The First Black Graduates Revisited” and your attendance was greatly appreciated!

• On Wednesday, March 2, Jacqueline White, AVP North/West Export Coal, will be speaking to GENAG 210, Human and Cultural Diversity in Agriculture, about corporate diversity. Later that night, from 5-6:30 p.m., the K-State Foundation will be hosting her at the K-State Foundation Building to speak on the open opportunities within Union Pacific. Students from MANRRS and the Colleges of Business and Engineering will be in attendance. This event will be catered. Transportation will be provided from the Union:
     o Union Pick-Up Times: 4:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.
     o Leave Times from Foundation: 6:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

• The K-State MANRRS Chapter is preparing to attend the 31st Annual Career Fair and Training Conference in Jacksonville, FL at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront on March 30 - April 2, 2016. Our student delegation of seven, accompanied by Dr. Terri Blackmon, Phil LeBlanc, and Tiffany Carter, will be attending various workshops and events to enhance their professionalism and networking skills. We wish our delegation the best of luck and safe travels!

Please continue to look for more diversity events as we continue to advertise. We appreciate your support. For more information about upcoming events or to collaborate with the DPO, please call 785-532-5793 or contact Dr. Zelia Wiley, Interim Associate Provost of Diversity, zwiley@ksu.edu.
