Drescher Chosen as NAE4HA North Central Regional Winner

Submitted by Jenny McDaniel

Beth Drescher, Sedgwick County, was recently named to the North Central Regional Winner for 4-H Military Partnerships. Her application will now be considered for the NAE4-HA National Award.

The McConnell AFB after-school programs at the School Age and Youth Centers are vibrant and exciting places for children and youth. The staff work hard to make the activities interesting and educational every day. They use positive youth development best practices to create lessons that help the kids develop skills and gain knowledge while they are learning and having fun.

McConnell’s after-school program is tremendously successful in large part because of their 4-H program, which was started in 1997. The staff have willingly attended monthly 4-H training seminars for the past 8 years, they
are excited about the weekly 4-H project work that they do with the 4-H'ers, and they enthusiastically cooperate and collaborate with the local Extension office. Drescher is  proud of their success and pleased that she has been able to work with them over the past 20 years to “Make the Best Better.”
