Diversity Programs Office Update

Submitted by Phil LeBlanc

Now that the spring semester has wrapped up, the Diversity Programs Office (DPO) has shifted its focus to the summer. The office is preparing to host or assist with four different programs this summer which include MAPS, Kompass, Nicodemus Educational Camp and the KSRE Summer Research Fellowship Program. We are excited about the students who are set to participate in these programs, and we appreciate the help of everyone who is working with us to ensure the students have the best experience possible.

• Please join us in welcoming Dr. Terri Blackmon to the DPO. She will serve the office in a coordinator role. Dr. Blackmon isn’t new to the office as she served as a co-advisor to the K-State MANRRS chapter during the 2015-2016 school year, and she has been assisting the office with the planning and interview process for the KSRE Summer Research Fellowship Program. Please stop by the office and introduce yourself.

• Both Phil LeBlanc and Dr. Blackmon participated in the Fourth Annual Kansas State University/NACADA Summer Undergraduate Academic Advising Institute. The speakers and breakout sessions they were a part of were well received and introduced them to new ideas and techniques that they believe can benefit the DPO.

Please continue to look for more diversity events as we continue to advertise. We appreciate your support. For more information about upcoming events or to collaborate with the DPO, please call 785-532-5793 or contact Phil LeBlanc or Dr. Terronica Blackmon.
