Caring for Our K-State Research and Extension Family

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

Our K-State Research and Extension family is close knit. Whenever any of our family members is hurting – whether due to a death, illness or any of life’s more unfortunate challenges – it is normal for us to want to do something that will take their pain away. Unfortunately, that is impossible. They need to grieve.

What we can do, however, is be there for them. To listen. To offer a shoulder to lean on. To cook them a meal. To mow their yard. To fill in for them at one of their Extension functions. To send them a caring note in a card. To keep them in our prayers and thoughts.

Yes, these are small things compared to what they may be going through, but they are meaningful. Any one of these or hundreds of other meaningful small things will show that their K-State Research and Extension family members care for them, and, if we could, we would take their grief and pain away from them.
