Diversity Breakfast and Multicultural Summit - October 6

Submitted by Debra J. Bolton

Please join organizers for the Fourth Annual Multicultural Summit in Garden City on Thursday, October 6, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch are included in the $50 registration.

The day begins with the Diversity Breakfast, which focuses on Cuba this year. Our featured breakfast speaker is Fort Hays State University President, Dr. Mirta Martin.

The Summit begins at 9 a.m. with Keynote Presentation, Mosab Hassan Yousef, the author of Son of Hamas. Yousef is the son of a founding member of Hamas, the Islamic Resistance Movement. Yousef, also, was the topic of a movie called, "The Green Prince."

Here are links to the TV commercial of the event: https://youtu.be/7xXonsZNIfc and a trailer of “The Green Prince” movie, https://youtu.be/FclTE28oI3Y.

The Plenary speaker will be U.S. Army, Major Francisco Hernandez, co-author of "Applying Global Perspectives to Improve U.S. Communities."

The afternoon session, back by popular demand, will be another multicultural panel answering questions about the educational, health care, court, and social systems of their perspective countries. Invited panelists represent Somalia, India, Burma (Myanmar), Iran, and the Ivory Coast. The panel will be moderated by Ms. Amy Longa, Esquire, from Uganda.

Registration forms can be acquired with an email to allie.medina@gardencityks.us, or erinn.reyes@gardencityks.us.

Let me know if you'd like to be part of the Extension table at breakfast and throughout the day.
