CECD Engagement Brown Bag, October 7

Submitted by David Procter

The Center for Engagement and Community Development (CECD) is continuing their fall 2016 brown bag engagement series. These professional development sessions are designed for faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students. The sessions will highlight the concept of university-community engagement through exemplars of KSU / community-engaged scholarship. These sessions are designed to help faculty think about developing community-based research and engagement skills, and provide foundational training for the next generation of engaged scholars. These interactive sessions will encourage faculty and students to critically reflect on the process and content of community-engaged scholarship.

The second brown bag session will take place THIS FRIDAY, October 7. The topic will be “A Spotlight on Engaged Scholarship: K-State’s Engagement Scholarship Consortium Conference Presentations.” ESC presenters will provide a short preview of their competitively-selected presentations. Faculty and staff presenting at the ESC Conference include David Procter, Elaine Johannes, Timothy Shaffer, Nancy Daniels, Chandra Ruthstrom, Sally Bailey, LaBarbara James Wigfall, Katie Kingery-Page, Todd Gabbard, Miranda Klugesherz, and Mirta Chavez. Provost April Mason will also be part of a plenary session. The ESC Conference will be held in Omaha, NE on October 10-12, 2016.

The engagement brown bag will be held in the Leadership Studies building, room 247, from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Future upcoming engagement brown bag sessions, held in Leadership Studies 247, are:

Voter Readiness: Friday, November 4, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Imagining America and Cultural Arts Engagement: Friday, December 2, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

This series of engagement brown bags is free and open to all faculty, staff, and students. For any questions regarding the series, contact CECD at 785-532-6868. We hope to see you there!
