CPR Training Opportunity
You never know when you might have the opportunity to save someone’s life. CPR provided immediately after sudden cardiac arrest can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival, but only 32 percent of cardiac arrest victims get help they need before professional help arrives.
The structure of CPR has changed significantly and it is easier now – all you have to do is perform chest compressions. The Red Cross recommends that at least one person in every household and place of business receive training in CPR and proper use of an AED.
CPR training for KSRE employees will be offered during Annual Conference at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25. You will need to complete the online portion of training first, print the completion certificate and bring it with you. The training and skills test will mirror what you see online. Dress casually (i.e. t-shirt, comfortable footwear).
To complete online coursework go to www.onlineaha.org. Select "Find a course" on the bottom left; access the drop down menu and choose Heartsaver; select the 3rd option "Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Online Part 1" and purchase for $39.95. Again, when you are finished, print the completion certificate and bring it with you.
Please bring a check for $45 payable to "Lafene Health Center" or cash for the skills check. Credit cards will not be accepted. Receipts will be provided.
If everyone arrives at 9 a.m. we should be done by 11. The class will be in Room 138 of Peters Rec Complex on campus. There are metered parking spaces or else permits are required to park in the lot.
To register, send a message to sharolyn@ksu.edu before October 14 with the following information: Name, date of birth, and the identification number (top left corner) on your K-State ID card.
