Diversity Programs Office Update

The K-State MANRRS Delegation at Monsanto Headquarters

The Diversity Programs Office would like to share some information about recent events involving the office:

• The K-State Chapter of Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences (MANRRS) attended the MANRRS Regional Conference this past weekend in St. Louis, Missouri. As part of the conference visit, the K-State delegation was able to tour and meet with representatives from Monsanto headquarters and Bunge North America headquarters. Representatives from FoodCorps and Land O’Lakes also met with and spoke to students. The students participated in competitions, mock interviews and workshops.

The following students attended the MANRRS Region IV Conference: Cameron Bradshaw, sophomore in Animal Sciences and Industry, Jetmore; Shakyra Everett, senior in Agricultural Communications and Journalism, Chicago, Ill; Shelbi Hill, sophomore in Life Sciences, Kansas City; Kenyanna Jones, sophomore in Animal Sciences and Industry, Overland Park; Me’Quelle Keeling, senior in Agribusiness, Olathe; Lain Littlejohn, senior in Animal Sciences and Industry, Chicago; Adriana Meneses, junior in Animal Sciences and Industry, Independence, MO; Keith Mentnech, senior in Animal Sciences and Industry, Manhattan; DJ Springfield, sophomore in Animal Sciences and Industry, Kansas City; Skylar Stephens, sophomore in Agribusiness, Wichita; Elisa Trigo, junior in Animal Sciences and Industry, Las Cruces, NM; and Frantina Williams, senior in Agribusiness, Kansas City.

• Kenyanna Jones, sophomore in Animal Sciences and Industry, placed third in the elevator speech competition at the MANRRS Regional Conference. Students from the University of Arkansas, Langston University, and Lincoln University also competed in this competition and the impromptu public speaking contest. We’d also like to thank our other competitors which included Cameron Bradshaw, Shakyra Everett, Me’Quelle Keeling and Adriana Meneses.
