From Llamas to Lodging: The Possibilities of an Ag-Based Business

Submitted by Cindy Evans

Entrepreneurs are discovering successful small business ventures in cottage industries with agricultural roots. You've seen them in your communities: U-pick berry farms, pumpkin patches, vineyards, barns with stall rental and barns as wedding venues. The only limit is your own creativity!

Join us February 28 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Ravenwood Lodge, 10147 SW 61st Street, Topeka, for a workshop providing:

  • Tips to finding regional success from Travel Kansas' Sue Stringer;
  • Assistance developing a business plan from the Kansas Washburn Small Business Development Center;
  • Information about zoning requirements, environmental concerns, funding sources and more;
  • Stories of success and challenges from four featured business champions.

Download a brochure, registration form and agenda at shawnee.ksu.edu. Register early (by February 10) for just $25. For more information, contact Cindy Evans, Shawnee County Extension Director, at 785-232-0062, ext. 110.
