Grain Facilities Hazard Assessment Tool

Submitted by Sandra Hoffman

To manage EH&S risk, we must identify potential hazards through a workplace assessment process. Our goal is to eliminate or minimize the risks to faculty, staff, students, and the environment through various administrative and engineering controls.

The Bartlett Grain Company provided us four training modules that identify hazards specific to the grain industry. These modules may assist you in better understanding the risks inherent in grain operations. There is a famous quote, “Knowledge is Power;" however, Robert Noyce adds, “Shared it is Multiplied." Grain facility managers are encouraged to use this training tool to promote hazard awareness with their personnel. Please visit the EH&S web page to access other training materials at http://www.ksre.k-state.edu/agsafe/training/index.html. Together, we can create a successful safety culture.
