Livestock County Fair Management Clinic Registration Due
Don’t miss the Livestock County Fair Management Clinics! Every other year, K-State Research and Extension and the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry host a Livestock Fair Management Clinic for county fair board members, Extension agents, and other adult volunteers involved in local livestock fair management and leadership. This professional development opportunity consists of an activity filled day to increase awareness on several livestock-related topics at the fair and how different county fairs operate. The program also provides a forum for open communication for individuals regarding the livestock component of fairs across Kansas. Extension agents are encouraged to invite their fair board members, or others associated with livestock management at the county fair.
There will be two different locations on two different days with the same general agenda. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 will be the session at the Gray County Fairgrounds in Cimarron. The second session will be held on Thursday, April 12, in Holton at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. County fair board structure and management, fair insurance, poultry health and exhibit management, official 4-H livestock policies and Extension’s role at county fairs, and the timing of livestock shows during the county fair are the topics included on the program.
The deadline is quickly approaching on April 1. Checks should be made payable to "KSU-ASI" and mailed to "Livestock Fair Management Clinic, Attn: Lexie Hayes, 214 Weber Hall, 1424 Claflin Road, Manhattan, KS 66506." A flyer for the event can be found on the K-State Youth Livestock Program website, linked to the event on the calendar at the top of the page.
