Reminder: Team Building - Harmony at Work
We do not always agree on the rank of priority issues in our system. Nevertheless, the exit interviews of our former colleagues, conversations with the professional associations, the State Extension Advisory Committee summer and winter meetings, the Listening Sessions, the Partnership Meetings, and several miscellaneous conversations all point to the importance of improving our retention rates by enhancing the working relationships with our colleagues.
One of the ways we will accomplish this is through the “Team Building – Harmony at Work” workshops, also known as the Cousin Jethro workshops. If that nickname isn’t familiar to you, please go back to the following Tuesday Letter article: https://ksre.ksu.edu/tuesday/announcement.php?id=38222.
This workshop is designed to help our departments, offices, centers, and local units to work more effectively as a team. No matter what your role is with K-State Research and Extension, this workshop is for you and your team of colleagues. Whether you are an office of two or twenty two, this workshop is for you and your team of colleagues. No matter how good your teamwork already is, and, let’s face it, it can always be better. This workshop is for you and your team of colleagues.
Register now for “Team Building – Harmony at Work” to be held at four locations across the state:
Friday, April 13, in Wichita at the Sedgwick County Extension Office, 7001 W. 21st St N
Monday, April 16, in Manhattan at Pottorf Hall, 1710 Avery Avenue
Tuesday, April 17, in Hays at the Research Center Auditorium, 1232 240th Avenue
Tuesday, May 1, in Dodge City at USD 443 Learning Center, 308 W. Frontview
Attendance will be limited to the first 75 participants at each location. The goal of the workshop is to provide tools to help local offices strengthen their teamwork. Our preference would be to have whole office teams attend but individual participants are welcome. Topics for the day will include personality styles, generations in the workplace, conflict resolution and strategies for building a workplace team.
To register, go to Employee Resources > Registration. The registration fee of $20 will cover refreshments and lunch. Make checks payable to Kansas State University and send to the host regional office by one week before the workshop.
To all those thinking about registering, please do so soon. While we will accept late registrations, there will be 60 to 90 minutes of pre-work, so please do not wait until the last minute.
Thanks to all those who have registered, and thanks to all those who will do so in the next week or so.
