Brain Health Updates

Submitted by Erin Yelland

Do you have a brain? Well then, you won’t want to miss this!

K-State Research and Extension is partnering with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Alzheimer’s Association to provide a Brain Health Update for all Extension agents and interested community partners. There will be NO cost to attend; lunch and materials are being provided by our wonderful partners! Although much of this information will focus on issues potentially faced by older adults, there will be a lot of great information presented that can be of benefit to people of all ages – so don’t disregard this opportunity.

Presenters will include:
• Yours truly
• The Alzheimer’s Association
• KU’s Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center

Topics to be covered:
• The current status of Alzheimer’s disease research and what we’ve learned
• An overview of the KU Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and the resources they provide for all Kansans (not just Jayhawks)
• Information on clinical trials and how to get involved
• Tips for current/future Alzheimer’s caregivers and loved ones of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias
• Resources for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementia and their families/caregivers
• A training on The Alzheimer’s Association’s Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body curriculum (including participant workbooks, etc.)
• What would you like to know? Tell us in the registration link and we will try to address it during the update.

When/Where:
All updates will take place from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the following dates/locations:
• May 10, Salina
• May 14, Parsons
• May 18, Garden City

Registration:
Registration is open to all Extension agents AND community partners. Folks you might consider inviting are: long-term care employees/administrators, Alzheimer’s disease support group leaders, health educators, and anyone else whom you think may be interested. All are welcome!
