Fair Theme Days Compliments Program Focus Teams

Submitted by Susan Metzger

Kansas State Fair 2018 Theme: Find Your Fun

Much appreciation is extended to the Adult Development and Aging and the Farm Management/Kansas Farm Management Teams for jumping right up to volunteer for spots at the Kansas State Fair. Appreciation is also extended to the four teams who agreed to swap days so that their Program Focus Teams (PFTs) could align with the daily theme selected by the Kansas State Fair. The Nutrition, Food Safety, and Health team switched days with the Family Resource Management team to complement the “Foodie Day” theme planned for Tuesday, September 11. The Community Vitality team switched days with the Horticulture team to align with “Kansas Cares Day” on Wednesday, September 12. The Kansas Cares Day will highlight community volunteerism and philanthropy – a topic that matches well with the expertise and resources from our Community Vitality team. The Signup.com site has been updated to reflect these changes.

Please visit the SignUp.com site, and indicate the time you are available to serve in the KSRE booth. You are not limited to volunteering only on days related to your PFT.

The revised schedule is as follows:

• Friday, September 7 - Adult Development & Aging
• Saturday, September 8 - Farm Management (and KFMA)
• Sunday, September 9 - Crop Production
• Monday, September 10 - Family & Child Development
• Tuesday, September 11 - Nutrition, Food Safety & Health
• Wednesday, September 12 - Community Vitality
• Thursday, September 13 - Natural Resource
• Friday, September 14 - Livestock Production
• Saturday, September 15 - Family Resource Management
• Sunday, September 16 - Horticulture

If you have not already, be sure to provide 10 questions (and answers) appropriate for children and 10 questions (and answers) appropriate for adults to Megan Macy, mnmacy@ksu.edu, by July 31. The questions will be used for the quiz wheel to engage and educate Fair attendees. In addition, be sure to provide Megan with three of your top publications for inclusion on your PFT postcard.

We appreciate your contribution of time and talent to represent KSRE at the Kansas State Fair! Questions? Email Susan Metzger, Senior Executive Administrator to the Dean/Director of the College of Agriculture and KSRE, at smetzger@ksu.edu.
