Nominate Your Colleagues for Their Good Work!

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

I have been really impressed with the success of the Shout Out feature of the Tuesday Letter. It is a nice, informal way to recognize the exceptional work of our colleagues. Thanks to all of you who have submitted those Shout Out requests. Due to the success of this Tuesday Letter feature, there usually is a one to three week delay getting them posted, but do not let this “good problem” deter you from making a Shout Out request. Keep them coming!

I would like to offer you a related challenge. We have the opportunity to officially acknowledge the work of our colleagues at our annual conference via our 2018 Annual Conference Awards. We usually have two or three highly competitive nominations to choose from in most categories. That isn’t enough! There are way more Extension professionals doing great work out there. I want us to acknowledge that great work. I want to see so many great nominations in each category that it creates another “good problem;” the selection process should be so difficult that it becomes a headache and heartache inducing activity for the committee. Make those headaches and heartaches happen by nominating your deserving colleagues!

To learn more about how to nominate your colleagues for recognition, please visit http://www.ksre.k-state.edu/employee_resources/nominations_for_awards/. There are ten award categories. I know that we each can think of at least one person or group for each award.

Also, please remember that our professional associations offer their own recognition opportunities. Please check with your professional association to learn more about these opportunities.
