Annual Governor’s Conference on the Future of Water in Kansas

Submitted by Susan Metzger

The call for proposals for the annual Governor’s Conference on the Future of Water in Kansas is now open.

The conference will be held November 13-14, 2018 at the Hilton Garden Inn and Conference Center in Manhattan, Kansas. The event brings together scientists, water managers, state and federal officials and legislators, city and county administrators, environmental organizations, irrigators and citizens who share an interest in Kansas water resources.

Please share this information with your colleagues and encourage them to submit an abstract for consideration of a presentation or poster at the conference. The deadline for professional and academic abstracts (both oral and poster) is October 8, 2018. Topics of focus for this year's event include reservoir sustainability, municipal and industrial water use, streambank stabilization or watershed best management practices, aquifer characterization and modeling, irrigation conservation, managing extreme events, and other emerging issues such as water transfers and reuse. However, all topics related to water are welcome. https://kstatedce.wufoo.com/forms/p175j43i05ghyga/.

Abstracts will be posted on the conference website for accepted talks and posters.

Voluntary presenters must also register for the conference at http://www.kwo.ks.gov/news-events/governor's-water-conference.
