"Good Night and Good Luck" - In other words, "Thank you!"

Submitted by Debra Bolton

The great newscaster, Edward R. Murrow, used to end each broadcast day of his news reports with, "Good night, and good luck." He chose his words so that they were not a "good-bye," because he knew he'd "see" or be with his audience the next day, or in the future. So I am saying, "good night, and good luck" as I depart my work in Extension, in the spirit of Murrow.

By the time you read this, I will be in my second day of my new position as Director of Intercultural Learning and Academic Success. I'm excited about working in a variety of ways to address cross-cultural advocacy, civility, intercultural learning along with education and training development at our great Kansas State University.

I want to thank each and every one of you who played a role to assure my success in Extension these past 13 years. I learned a lot from you! While my career is moving along a different path, now, I expect that our relationships will continue. I do look forward to seeing you when you're on campus for meetings and such. And our house will always be open to visitors for game day or other events.

My new office address is 224 Anderson Hall, and my phone number is 785-532-6276. My email address remains the same. My cell number is 620-272-3931. Let's not lose our connections with one another.

Again, thank you for your work in Extension, and thank you for your support of me these past 13 years.

To paraphrase Murrow, "Good life, and good luck."
