Participate in Walk Kansas to Earn Health Quest Credit

Submitted by Sharolyn Jackson

Walk Kansas kicks off on March 17 and continues for 8 weeks. Through participation in this health initiative you can earn 4 Health Quest credits.

All KSRE staff, plus one support person per employee, can participate at no cost. You are encouraged to register in the county/district where you live or in a neighboring county (if the program is not being offered where you work.) To register online, go to www.walkkansas.org and click on the registration link. This will take you to the online system where you register a team or register as an individual to be placed on a team later. Check with the local office first for the discount code you will need for free registration.

Walk Kansas is based on the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, which recommends a minimum of 150 minutes/week of moderate activity, at a level of intensity where you can barely have a conversation while doing the activity. These active minutes are reported daily, along with the amount of fruits and vegetables you consume. The online system converts minutes you report into miles, and combines your total minutes with others on your team to show progression along a trail in Kansas. As your team progresses along the trail, you will unlock points of interest and learn more about this wonderful state as you move along!

Registration is open in most local programs through March 15.
