34th Annual National MANRRS Conference Theme

The K-State Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences (MANRRS) Chapter thanks everyone who participated in our “Spring 2019 MANRRS Week.” The purpose of this week is to engage students, faculty members, and MANRRS students through various on campus events. The events took place from March 18 – March 22, 2019. Please visit https://www.ag.k-state.edu/about/diversity/manrrs/MANRRS-Week-Flyer.pdf for more information regarding the Spring 2019 MANRRS Week Events. Thanks for your support.

On April 3 – 6, Kansas State University will serve as a co-host for the 34th Annual MANRRS National Conference in Overland Park, KS. Other co-hosts include: John Deere, Cargill, Merck Animal Health, and Missouri Conservation Department. The K-State delegation includes a total of 20 students, along with advisor Dr. Zelia Wiley and co-advisor Lonnie Hobbs, Jr. The students attending the conference will participate in workshop sessions, the career fair, student competitions, and have the opportunity to hear from numerous speakers prominent in agriculture-related fields. Tiffany Carter and Lonnie Hobbs, Jr. will also represent K-state on the national level, serving as National Graduate Student President and Region IV Graduate Vice President respectively.

Other Kansas State College of Agriculture administrators will partake in the conference during the career fair and various sessions during the four day period. Interim Dean, Dr. Ernie Minton, will also be present throughout the conference as he will serve as a panelist during various sessions and the Diversity Summit. Dr. Zelia Wiley will be heavily involved in the conference as she will lead various sessions and pass her crown as the MANRRS Legend (2017-2019) to the 2019-2021 recipient.

On April 4, there will be 40 students from the MANRRS National Conference visit the K-State campus to tour both the College of Agriculture and College of Veterinary Medicine. The students will explore the campus from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Thursday. Various K-State College of Agriculture administrators, ambassadors, and K-State MANRRS members will help to ensure the students have a fun and informational time here on campus.
