It's Not Too Late! Send in Your Application for 2020 NELD North Central by September 3

Submitted by Laurie R. Chandler

Enthusiastic about K-State Research and Extension? Interested in developing your ability to lead Extension into the future? If your vision of your future includes building your career with Extension, then the NELD North Central leadership experience may be just the opportunity you need!

The purpose of NELD-NC is to provide current and future Extension leaders with the vision, courage, and tools to lead in a changing world. NELD is an annual four session program designed to help participants:

  • Learn, apply and reflect on new effective leadership, organizational collaboration and change concepts and strategies
  • Develop a better understanding of self and enhance personal effectiveness
  • Strengthen competence in decision-making, build leadership capacity, improve effectiveness of Extension programming and promote life-long learning
  • Broaden understanding of Extension on a local, state, national and international level
  • Build a more robust national Extension network

Since 2011, University of Minnesota Extension has been providing leadership to deliver the NELD Program. Next year, the University of Missouri Extension will be organizing this leadership experience. Session dates and locations for 2020 are being finalized so the session dates are not available yet. Organizers anticipate that the first session will be held in February/March 2020.

Information about the current program is available at http://www.neld.extension.umn.edu/.

Participation costs for county/district faculty will be fully funded through the KSRE Leadership budget. Tuition for specialists will be covered through the KSRE Leadership budget and all travel-related expenses will be the responsibility of their departmental or regional unit. Applicants must be able to fully participate in all four sessions.

If you would like to submit an application for the 2020 program, complete the NELD NC application form. Completed application forms should be returned by email to Laurie Chandler, lchandle@ksu.edu, by SEPTEMBER 3. Selected agents/faculty members will be notified by mid-September.

If you have questions or need additional information, call Laurie Chandler, lchandle@ksu.edu, at 785-532-3066.

Current class members would also be happy to visit with you about their recent experiences. Contact John Jobe, 785-537-6350, jajobe@ksu.edu; or Erin Yelland, 785-532-1905, erinyelland@ksu.edu.
