The annual Prepare Kansas online challenge starts September 3. It will run through September to coincide with National Preparedness Month, coordinated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The focus of the 2019 Prepare Kansas challenge is food safety. Challenge tasks will focus on being ready before a power outage, as a power outage happens, after a power outage, and after a flood. It will provide tips to guide you through steps to be more prepared to handle emergencies. That can make recovery smoother and faster.

Learn more about this year’s challenge tasks at http://blogs.k-state.edu/preparekansas/ and the K-State Research and Extension Facebook page.

As the Southeast and lower Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States prepare for and recover from Hurricane Dorian, it is a good time for all of us to review and update our own level of preparedness.
