Financially Speaking

Submitted by Joy Miller

Medical costs are high; staying well is good for your wallet as well as for your body. Your best basic health insurance is a healthy diet, exercise, good rest, and low stress. Prevention is key. Take advantage of the benefits of your health insurance, including preventive visits and screenings, life coaching, mental health screenings, and any health club memberships (if offered). HealthQuest provides screenings, assessments, challenges, coaching, and workshops to address health and wellness.

Addressing your financial health is also important and HealthQuest has provided a couple of opportunities. The HealthQuest Financial online workshop is worth 5 credits. The objective is to provide you with the tools to manage your financial stress. Another is the Financial IQ Challenge sponsored by the Live Your Best program through TIAA. You have until September 30 to test your knowledge about a variety of finances. Answer 5 questions at a time and see how you score. The more questions you answer, the greater your chances are to win an Apple watch. https://www.whatsmyfinancialiq.org/wyfiq/?quiz=KSU2019.

The deadlines to earn HealthQuest Credits is approaching fast. Accumulating enough credits can be financially beneficial, helping you save on premiums and earn money to contribute into Health Savings Account (HSA) or Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), allowing you to save, invest, and spend tax-free earnings for qualified health expenses.
