November 18 - The Silent Epidemic

Submitted by Deanna Turner

All interested staff are invited to attend The Silent Epidemic coming up Monday, November 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the Blair Theater, 1310 19th Street, in Belleville. This program was planned to help people dealing with depression and their caregivers.

Hear this powerful message about the greatest accomplishment- a real story of victory over severe depression by former Newman University head basketball coach Mark Potter. Depression hit him at the height of his basketball career. Nanette, Mark’s spouse, will share her role as a caregiver and what a person can to do to help someone you love. Mark will encourage others suffering from depression to seek assistance and provide practical ideas for wellness. Caregivers are encouraged to bring your family members and friends dealing with depression.

A Culture of Health Grant and K-State Research & Extension-River Valley District are sponsoring this free program. For more information, contact District Agents, Deanna Turner and Sonia Cooper at the River Valley District Office in Clay Center at 785-632-5335.
