Kansas Radon Program Webinar Series

Due to the interruption of normal radon outreach activities caused by the recent COVID-19 isolation protocols, the Kansas Radon Program is hosting a series of brief webinar-based outreach programs. The KRP is offering a series of five (5) radon educational webinars of approximately thirty (30) minutes each. All webinars begin at 11 a.m. Central. 1) Wednesday - 4/29/2020 - General radon information and health effects- Kristina Snyder

A brief overview of radon, including: 1) its chemical properties and origin in the soil, 2) health effects, and 3) radon entry into homes

2) Wednesday - 5/6/2020 - Radon measurement for homeowners- Brian Hanson

A brief overview of radon measurement for current homeowners, including: 1) incidence rates of radon across Kansas, 2) statewide legislation related to radon, and 3) homeowner radon testing options

3) Wednesday - 5/13/2020 - Radon measurement during real estate transactions- Bruce Snead

A brief overview of radon measurements during real estate transactions, including: 1) incidence rates of radon across Kansas, 2) statewide legislation related to radon, and 3) real estate testing options

4) Wednesday - 5/20/2020 - Radon mitigation in single-family homes- Bruce Snead

A brief overview of radon reduction systems, including: 1) a brief review of radon entry, 2) active soil depressurization (ASD) theory, and 3) example ASD installation options

5) Wednesday - 5/27/2020 - Radon resistant new construction (RRNC) for new homes- Brian Hanson

A brief overview of radon reduction systems, including: 1) an overview of RRNC theory, 2) an introduction to the Appendix F of the International Residential Building Code (IRC), and 3) the current communities in Kansas having adopted the Appendix F and steps to encourage local adoption
