Water Resource Management Virtual Training Continues this Week
The next two sessions of the virtual training series, “Water Resource Management and Irrigation in Kansas,” will take place this week, on March 30 and 31, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
“Climate and Weather Resources to Support Water Decisions” is scheduled for today, March 30. It will feature K-State climatologists and meteorologists who will discuss the state’s climatic data and its influences on water decisions and issues. Speakers will also examine some data sources, resources and applications, and how these can be used to support water decision management.
Tomorrow morning, participants will hear about “Innovative Water Management Techniques.” This session will cover recent research about soil moisture sensors in production fields, as well as hear from a Kansas producer about how he conserves water on his farm while maintaining yield and nutrient management decisions that maximize production economically while limiting environmental impacts.
This training theme, consisting of five sessions, is sponsored by the Natural Resources Professional Focus Team and KCARE. All sessions will be conducted via zoom as well as livestreamed on YouTube. Instructions on how to log in to zoom and livestream will be made available on the KCARE Training Events Website on the morning of the event, or interested participants can email kstatekcare@ksu.edu for login information.
This workshop series will conclude with one final session on April 8, focused on irrigating lawns and urban water conservation.
