Reporting Changes Coming Fall 2021
Submitted by Jennifer R Wilson
As announced during Friday’s Extension Update, significant changes will be coming to client contact reporting procedures, effective October 1, 2021. While a NIFA mandate is the major driving force behind these changes, the changes will also allow us to better utilize PEARS to tell our impact story.
What’s changing?
The following will be mandatory requirements:
-
Race, gender and ethnicity information is based on self-report by participants and/or partner organizations using either KSRE’s Extension Program Participant Demographic Data Report Form or electronic means.
-
Educational programs/activities provided to groups should be reported using the Program Activities module in PEARS.
The following is strongly recommended:
-
Indirect activity efforts (social media, TV/Radio, newsletters, etc.) should use the Indirect Activities module in PEARS.
Although changes are not effective until October 1, 2021, staff can and are encouraged to start using new procedures now. More information and a list of frequently asked questions is available in the KSRE Client Contact Reporting Guide. The PEARS Support Page provides videos, step-by-step instructions and screenshots for completing Program Activities and Indirect Contacts modules.
Watch upcoming Tuesday Letters for reporting tips and mark your calendar for a KSRE Reporting webinar on August 31, from 10-11:30 a.m. During this webinar, we will review the new procedures, provide tips for using PEARS and collecting demographic data electronically.
