Time to Gather Nominations for Kansas Master Farm Family Honor and Recognition

Submitted by Daryl Buchholz

It is time to work with your Extension Board to gather farm family nominations for the statewide Kansas Master Farm Family honor and recognition. A maximum of six farm families from across the state are selected for this prestigious honor. The Kansas Master Farmer program is one of Extension’s premier recognition programs. It was started some 95 years ago in 1926, and continues today. Over the years, more than 400 families have been recognized, honored, and become members of the Kansas Master Farmer Association and the Kansas Master Farm Homemakers Guild.

This past year we made some changes to the nomination form and process. IT IS ALL ON-LINE! Follow this link: https://tinyurl.com/Ksmff. Form and format is much simpler to follow and complete. And, you can save the work at any time and then retrieve it later to continue to complete!

The Master Farm Family program is great to recognize and honor your local farm families who have that long record of being great farmers/ranchers, extension supporters, and a positive influence within your community and beyond.

While this is statewide recognition, it truly represents a way of expressing recognition locally for those farm families who have shown great support and excellence in community and success in their farm/ranch operations. No better way to demonstrate the value of extension, and in many cases, 4-H leadership locally.

Don’t miss the chance to nominate a deserving farm family from your community for statewide recognition. This K-State Research and Extension Program is co-sponsored with the Kansas Farmer magazine, and is provided excellent financial support by Kansas Farm Bureau, Frontier Farm Credit, and American AgCredit.
