Important Information Regarding Leave
Please note the following information regarding vacation leave accrual for the month of October and deadlines for the discretionary day.
October vacation leave accrual: The October 29 paycheck will be the third paycheck in the month of October. Employees who accrue vacation leave will not accrue vacation hours with this paycheck. Vacation leave is accrued 22 out of the 26 pay periods, or 176 hours, each fiscal year. For fiscal year 2022, the paychecks with no vacation leave accrual include October 29, 2021; April 29, 2022; and the last two pay periods of the fiscal year: June 10 and June 24, 2022.
Discretionary day: Employees who have not already used their discretionary day must do so by December 25, 2021. With December 24 being a holiday for benefit-eligible employees, most employees will need to use the discretionary day on or before December 23. Refer to your leave balances in HRIS Self Service to determine if your discretionary day is still available. If the abbreviated word "D-Day" appears, the discretionary day is available. The "D-Day" will not display if the hours have been used. The discretionary day for 2022 will be available starting December 26, 2021.
Also remember: On Thursday, October 7, 2021, K-State’s President Richard Myers and Provost Chuck Tabor released a message to university employees offering the week of December 27 – December 31 off with pay in recognition of their efforts during the challenges of the last twenty months.
