Kansas Forest Service Selected for Governor's Wildfire Task Force

Submitted by Ariel Whitely-Noll

Module currently working in Crawford NE on the Trout Fire.

State Forester Jason Hartman, and State Fire Management Officer Mark Neely, of the Kansas Forest Service were asked to serve on the newly created Governor’s Wildfire Task Force. The task force will work to make recommendations to Kansas communities about wildfire prevention, response and recovery. Chip Redmond, Network Manager for the Kansas Mesonet, will also serve on the task force.

Since 2003, Kansas Forest Service Firefighters have traveled all over the country helping with wildfires. Beginning in April of this year, KFS and our cooperators have sent over 50 firefighters and support staff to approximately 30 different wildfires across the U.S. from Texas to Alaska.

Additional information on the task force can be found on the full press release: https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/KSOG/bulletins/323e6ce.
