Shout Out: Sunflower District Staff, Board Members and Volunteers

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

The Shout Out this week comes from Karen Nelson, Sunflower District Director, and is sent to recognize her Sunflower District staff, board members and volunteers.

"I so appreciate everyone who works in and with the Sunflower Extension District - Melinda Daily, Heather McDonald, Jeanne Falk Jones, Sherri Keith, Wendy Benisch, Linda Elfers, Lisa Holzwarth, Extension Board members and volunteers. They humored me and dug into helping with the planning, staffing, advertising, registration, teaching and facilitation of 11 day camps in May and June. They also supported the programs carried out by two summer interns (Hannah Dechant and Lauren Cure) throughout the summer. Of course, their own programs and office work continued.

Extension Board members – Amy Hendricks, Tammy Grice and Melvin Crow were primary instructors/planners for three of the day camps held this summer. It was a crazy successful summer, reaching and engaging new and returning youth audiences. I’m not at all surprised our little ‘village’ pulled together to make it happen. I am so thankful to be part of this team and their willingness to make a difference for youth in our district."

Sunflower District agents, office professionals, board members and volunteers, thanks for all you do for the people of Kansas, our colleagues and K-State Research and Extension.

If you know of a colleague or team of colleagues who deserve recognition for a job well done, why not nominate them for a Shout Out. Simply send their name(s) and the reason for the Shout Out to ksreshoutout@ksu.edu. Also, it would be very helpful if you would put "Shout Out" in the subject line of the email.
