KSRE Local Foods Systems Statewide Local Foods Virtual Town Hall- October 26, 11 a.m.

Submitted by Londa Nwadike

Our KSRE local food systems transdisciplinary team would like to invite you and anyone interested to our next statewide quarterly local food systems virtual town hall scheduled for Wednesday, October 26, from 11 a.m. - noon. The goal of the meeting is for people working in the area of local food systems across Kansas to be able to share what their organization is working on related to local food systems and learn what other organizations are doing so that we all can work together to strengthen local food systems in Kansas.

The agenda for the October 26 virtual town hall includes:

1) Five minute presentations by:
a. Kathy Ruhf, Food Systems Consultant, will present on this new national publication: A Regional Imperative: The Case for Regional Food Systems: www.lysoncenter.org/index.php/publications/a-regional-imperative-report
b. Eileen Horn- Kansas Food Action Network- South West Kansas Local Food Systems Assessment
c. Eleni Pliakoni, KSU- recap of KSU Urban Food Systems Symposium
d. Chris Roper, Flower Hill Institute local food systems support: https://flowerhill.institute/

2) Open discussion about upcoming/ ongoing local food systems-related grants in Kansas:
a. KSRE application for a USDA Regional Food Systems Program grant
b. Any others? (We know that there are a number of pending as well as ongoing grants at the moment. So we would like to hear from anyone willing to share)

3) Brief announcements of upcoming local food systems events/initiatives in Kansas that will be occurring in the next few months- everyone is welcome to share announcements that you might have in this area.

Please feel free to share this information with anyone interested. They can register for the free event here: http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07ejb5fgg5c9cd7376&llr=tvkeonpab.

We do plan to record the session in case you are not able to make it at that time. We look forward to “seeing” many of you online on October 26, from 11 a.m. - noon CDT. Thanks and all the best. --Londa Nwadike on behalf of the KSRE planning team
