The National Extension Framework for Health Equity and Well-being recommends using community development strategies with mutually reinforcing and targeted health programs to ensure that every person has the opportunity to attain their full health potential. The following tools and resources can be used to improve health access, equity and well-being to achieve Healthy Kansas 2030 objectives and contribute to the nation’s Healthy People 2030 outcomes.
SUBMIT NOW: The planning committee for the 2023 National Health Outreach Conference is now accepting proposals to present at next year’s conference which will be held May 22-24, at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. The central theme of the conference focuses on ensuring that all people have a fair and just opportunity to experience lifelong health and well-being. Presentation proposals must be submitted through the submission portal located at https://bit.ly/NHOCproposal2023 no later than January 12, 2023.
LEARN NOW: Some health and vaccination experts have called the surge in RSV, Flu and COVID a “tripledemic.” Learn more about the signs of these three illnesses from the November 3 briefing by Johns Hopkins School of Public Health here. Adults are not the only ones who can get RSV. RSV is also very concerning for older adults. CDC data show that hospitalizations among people 65+ are 10 times higher than usual for this time of year.
READ NOW: The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has released the Healthy Kansans 2030 State Health Assessment (SHA) and State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP), marking the conclusion of an 18-month-long initiative to move the health of all Kansans in a positive direction. The State Health Assessment includes the analysis of 130 health indicators and a concentration on key issues gathered though a year-long process of statewide surveys, focus groups and interviews.
