Shout Out: Will Morris
This week's Shout Out comes from Julie Smith, family resource management & entrepreneurship agent in the Wildcat District, and is sent for Will Morris, 4-H youth development agent, also in Wildcat District. Julie writes:
"This shout out is specifically for Will Morris, Crawford County 4-H Agent, but is applicable to all of the 4-H Youth Development Agents in the system.
Fair season is fun but also stressful. Navigating kids, parents, judges, volunteers and more - all during some of the hottest weeks of the year - it's a lot. During the fair this year, my 16 year old daughter was hired by a local newspaper to take photos throughout the week. She called me mid-day from the fair and said she didn't feel good - she's had episodes of passing out from heat in the past. As a mother, it is a very scary moment to not be there first hand. I called our 4-H agent, Will Morris, in a panic. I told him what was going on and he immediately went to find her. When I called her back to tell her help was coming, I heard the relief in her voice when she said, "I see Will. He's running over here." After assessing the situation, Will called right back to update me and stayed with her until I got there.
To know that we as parents have people that care enough about our kids to drop everything and take off running in over 100 degree heat... THANK YOU to Will and to all of those who continue to make a difference in the lives of our youth. At the end of the day, after conflict and drama and sweat and tears, I hope every 4-H parent knows just how lucky we are to have some of the best people in the world looking after our kids here in Kansas."
Will, thanks for all you do for the people of Kansas, our colleagues and K-State Research and Extension.
