The Community Health Corner
The National Extension Framework for Health Equity and Well-being recommends using community development strategies and health literacy programs to ensure that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible. The following resources help us improve well-being for all, and achieve Healthy Kansas 2030 and Healthy People 2030 objectives.
Thanksgiving Health and Safety Tips 2023 from Public Health Communications Collaborative: Access five easy tips for individual, family and community health and safety for Thanksgiving and up-coming holidays. The PHCC tips are available and ready for social media use here.
Narrow Street Lanes Keep Traffic Safer: The Bloomberg American Health Initiative has released its report of a national investigation of lane width on traffic safety. The investigation reveals that narrowing travel lanes provides more safety than wider lands for biking and pedestrian use. Narrowing travel lanes could positively impact the economy which includes raising property values, boosting business operation along streets, and developing new design projects.
