The National Extension Framework for Health Equity and Well-being recommends using community development strategies and health literacy programs to ensure that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible. The following resources help us improve well-being for all, and achieve Healthy Kansas 2030 and Healthy People 2030 objectives.
Eating Disorders Awareness Week (NEDAW): Join the Office on Women’s Health on Thursday, February 29th, from 1 – 3 P.M. ET for the 2024 National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (NEDAW) webinar highlighting the latest data, disparities for underserved and underrepresented populations, and best practices in providing quality care for diverse communities. Attendees will hear from subject matter experts in the field and individuals with lived experience as they dive into the latest eating disorder considerations for individuals, loved ones, and healthcare professionals. This webinar is free and open to the public.
How Climate Change Will Reshape Health Landscapes: The World Economic Forum published Quantifying the Impact of Climate Change on Human Health. The report provides an in-depth economic analysis of how climate change will reshape health landscapes over the next two decades. It highlights increased risks from new pathogens, pollution and extreme weather events and shows how these will exacerbate current health inequities, disproportionately impacting the most vulnerable populations.
Embedding Equity And Racial Justice During Crises: The American Medical Association recently published the Embedding Equity in Crisis Preparedness and Response in Health Systems guide, which supports health care professionals in embedding equity and racial justice during crises. The guide provides candid accounts of organizations across the country as they embed equity and racial justice during crises and shares key findings learned along the way.
