Growing Growers Informational Webinar

Submitted by Rebecca McMahon

The KSRE Local Foods team and Growing Growers program would like to invite interested KSRE staff to attend an informational webinar about the expansion of the Growing Growers program to new parts of Kansas. If you aren’t available to attend the webinar but are interested, please register for the webinar so we can record your interest.

Growing Growers Informational Webinar
Wednesday, March 20th 10:00 – 11:00 am via Zoom

Join the Growing Growers program in this informational session geared towards Kansas State Research & Extension staff. Program staff will give an overview of the Growing Growers farmer training program, which has entered its 20th season this year. With the development of a new, extensive online course, we are looking for ways to expand the program. While participants have historically been located within an hour of the Kansas City region (both in KS and MO), we are looking for ways to expand the reach of the program and support more specialty crop producers throughout both states. Growing Growers in the KC region is a decentralized program wherein apprentices engage in hands-on farmwork at their host farm, receive 12-month access to an extensive online course, and attend a series of in-person workshops and farm tours throughout the growing season. Come eager to learn, ask questions, and think about ways that this program could support local food production in your region.
