Making Your New Year Happy
On New Year’s Day, I posted to our KSRE Difference Makers Facebook page this quote by Alfred Lord Tennyson:
“Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, whispering, ‘It will be happier.’”
A new year always brings hope for a better year in both our personal and professional lives, but a new year doesn’t bestow happiness or unhappiness on us. Our actions do. If we want a better year in 2025, we need to make it a better year.
Other quotes support this premise. Author, broadcaster, and clergyman Vern McLellan had this to say on making a new year successful:
“What the new year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the new year.”
Are you going to make 2025 a ditto year and continue the same old boring approach and routine? Will that bring you happiness? Attorney Michael Josephson of the Joseph and Edna Josephson Institute of Ethics indicates that you make a new year happy by looking for opportunities to act upon:
“Approach the new year with the resolve to find the opportunities hidden in each new day.”
Of course, everyone’s favorite doctor, Dr. Seuss, indicates that you should take on something new to make your life happy and less ho-hum:
“You’ll never get bored when you try something new. There’s no limit to what you can do.”
Make this new year the best you ever had. Bring your positivity. Look for those opportunities every day that can positively affect your day. Invigorate your life by trying something new. Following these simple little steps can bring you the happiest of new years.
