The National Extension Framework for Health Equity and Well-being recommends using community development strategies and health literacy programs for everyone’s health. From urban, metro, suburban, rural and frontier locations, Extension works in partnership with communities to deliver meaningful and relevant programs and initiatives to keep health closer to home.  The following resources help us improve well-being for all, and achieve Healthy People 2030 objectives.

Navigating Extreme Heat and Workforce Health: The National Commission on Climate and Workforce Health is hosting the webinar Extreme Heat & Workforce Health: Navigating Policy & Preparedness on July 30th. Drawing on new research on state-level readiness and a landscape analysis of heat-related regulation across federal and state levels, this webinar will help business leaders—especially those in HR, Government Affairs, EHS, and Operations—understand the current state and resources to dig in further. For more information.

Suicide Prevention Communication Tools from CDC: CDC has released a new Suicide Prevention Communication Campaign Playbook and the accompanying Brainstorm Book, a resource designed to support organizations like yours in addressing the critical issue of suicide prevention communication.  This playbook aligns with the 2024 National Strategy for Suicide Prevention and is a companion piece to CDC’s Suicide Prevention Resource for Action.

Smoking Cessation Pill May Help Young Adults Quit Vaping: A recent NIH-funded study found that the smoking cessation pill varenicline may help young adults quit vaping. In a 12-week trial with participants ages 18–25, 45% of those who took varenicline quit using e-cigarettes, compared to 31% in the placebo group. The study also showed reduced cravings and withdrawal symptoms among those who received the medication. While mild side effects were reported, the findings suggest varenicline could be a promising option to support youth in overcoming nicotine addiction.
