Update on the Kansas 4-H Thrive Study – Wave Two

Submitted by Sarah E. Maass

This is an exciting time for Kansas 4-H.  So much has been going on to help move our program forward and help the youth of Kansas be Beyond Ready for work and life!

As we continue through the second year of the Kansas 4-H Thrive Study, we need your help!  We have invited 4-H youth age 10 and up to participate in a survey to tell us about their experience in 4-H. The survey is designed to help Kansas 4-H understand how youth are thriving in 4-H.

Here is where you come in…The response rates are much lower than last year, and your help will increase the response rate. For counties with at least 10 responses, we will have local data compiled into a county-specific report by early September. All surveys must be received by July 27. The last emails to families were sent on Monday and Tuesday, July 14 & 15.

As you have time around your county fairs, we ask for your help in one last push for these surveys to be completed.  Below is a sample message to share with 4-H families.

Thank you so much for your help as we look to tell the Kansas 4-H story.

Sample email to 4-H families:

If you have children ages 10 and older, you might have received a message to complete the 4-H Thriving Survey. This annual survey allows us to better understand how youth are thriving in 4-H. If your child has not completed the survey yet, please do so by July 27.

Sometimes the survey message will be sent to spam. Please check your inbox for the following information:

  • Multiple emails, with the last one being sent July 14 or 15
  • From: Kansas State 4-H
  • Email: noreplay@qualtrics-survey.com
  • Subject line: Last chance to complete the 4-H thriving survey

All youth who complete the survey will be entered into a lottery to win a scholarship to a 4-H event.
