Explore GIS Topics this Fall in “Map Monday” Workshops!

Submitted by Cailin Wycoff

Have you ever been curious about using spatial data software for a research project? Are you interested in learning how to use geographic data to visually tell a story? Now is the time to get started!

The Geographic Information Systems Spatial Analysis Laboratory (GISSAL) will host a series of beginner-friendly, hands-on workshops for K-State faculty, staff and students during the fall semester. The series will also include a kick-off session for experienced ArcMap users to begin, or master, the transition to ArcGIS Pro.

  • Migrating GIS Projects from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro – Sept. 8

  • Unlocking Spatial Insights with GIS – Sept. 22

  • Sourcing, Managing, and Analyzing Spatial Data – Oct. 13

  • Web Mapping Fundamentals:  From Data to Visualization – Nov. 3

All workshops will take place from 9-11 a.m. in Seaton Hall 3014A. Advanced registration is required, and each workshop is limited to 30 participants. Desktop computers will be provided, but personal laptops may also be used. If you bring a personal laptop, it must have ArcGIS Pro 3.5 installed prior to the beginning of each workshop.

GISSAL is a university core facility established in 1990 as an interdisciplinary center supporting geospatial research, learning and outreach activities. The Map Monday workshops are co-sponsored by the Department of Geography and Geospatial Sciences and the Institute for Digital Agriculture and Advanced Analytics.
