Workplace Safety Matters
Every year, July is recognized as National Safety Month, a time to highlight the importance of safety in every aspect of our lives — especially in the workplace. Injuries, illnesses, and accidents on the job are often preventable with the right tools, training and a strong safety culture.
In June 2022, mandatory safety training for all K-State extension agents was introduced through the HSI/Vivid Online Learning Management System (LMS). Agents were required to complete their initial training by the end of 2022 and are now expected to renew it every three years. The LMS automatically sends reminders when it’s time to complete your courses.
Safety isn’t just a policy; it’s a daily commitment. Building a safe work environment means:
• Engaging employees at all levels.
• Providing ongoing training.
• Conducting regular hazard assessments.
• Fostering open communication about safety concerns.
Current training topics include distracted driving, driver safety, and general office safety. If you have questions about your login credentials or course completion, please reach out to Lynn Harshbarger at harshbar@ksu.edu for assistance.
At the end of the day, the safest workplace is one where everyone returns home safe and healthy, every single day.
