Updates from the Associate Director

Submitted by Daryl Buchholz

Daryl Buchholz

This week the Extension Administrative Leadership team is meeting with the Kansas "JCEP" group. This involves the officer/leadership of each of the Extension Professional Associations, including:

Epsilon Sigma Phi - Alpha Rho Chapter
Kansas Extension Agents Association
Kansas Association of County Agricultural Agents
Kansas Association of Extension 4-H Agents
Kansas Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences

Some of the primary topics we will cover include:

  • Budget implications - not sure how much we will know at that time with respect to the state legislature's decisions for higher education, what the Board of Regents may do, how KSU will distribute the available resources, and impacts that will have on KSRE, but can update and discuss the implications and planning taking place.
  • Strategic plan/Updated MOU for Extension - remind everyone of the Extension strategic plan and that we are working on an updated MOU for use with all local Extension units to reflect the strategic priorities and responsibilities of KSU and of the local Extension Board. Follow this hot link to the Extension Strategic plan. All strategic plans for departments and colleges at K-State can be found at http://www.k-state.edu/2025/initiatives/college-planning/.
  • PDC task force - having completed the Partnership Meeting dialog and the training workshops for Extension professionals this past winter/spring, we will be updating the group on plans for further accomplishing the goals of greater engagement, advocacy, and volunteerism through effective PDC engagement.
  • KSRE Online transformation - over the past year we've been working with programmers to make the planning/reporting/prof development/performance review computer interface much more user friendly, intuitive, and easier to navigate. We are close to a roll out of that system. No real changes in what is within the system, just a much more friendly interface.

We look forward to a great dialog and the continued great work across all the faculty and staff as we collectively work towards fulfilling the Extension mission at Kansas State University!

Have a great week!
