Update from Associate Director
I point you to the message from President Schulz in his letter to the campus posted yesterday morning. I really appreciate the perspective he provides on the outcome of state legislature, and its impact on the K-State community, especially with the need to notify employees with respect to the furlough. He describes very well the frustration and haste that was necessary with little guidance on interpreting the impact of declaring each employee essential or non-essential. I encourage you to read his letter. I share his sentiments, and I believe he states those sentiments very well.
You will note in the second to last paragraph, he indicates the budget process for the University resulted in no across-the-board salary raises, and that internal reallocations will not occur. We still await financial details from the state, Board of Regents, and campus. But, for now it appears we are going to be operating from the same base as we've had in FY2015. More to come on that.
I am very proud of our K-State Research and Extension family, and each of your commitments to being the best you can be at delivering high quality Extension programming that makes a difference for Kansans. Best wishes as we move into the county fair season, and opportunities to lift up and celebrate with our youth in their exhibits of 4-H project work.
And, have a fun, safe 4th of July weekend!
